Mr. Stevens is a co-founder of SYNC Technology Law Group.  Mr. Stevens provides services and advice for domestic and foreign clients regarding all aspects of patent applications in China, including managing investigations involving suspected infringement of intellectual property rights; drafting opinions of counsel in support or defense of infringement claims; drafting arguments; and liaising with China counsel to coordinate and manage intellectual property disputes in China.  Mr. Stevens counsels clients including licensors, purchasers, and vendors with regard to intellectual property related transactions, including licensing, technology transfer, and taxation issues, including:  negotiation, structuring, and drafting intellectual property right transfers and licenses; creation and recordal of security interests in intellectual property rights; conducting intellectual property rights searches to authenticate title and validity of intellectual property rights and drafting opinions as to validity; counseling with regard to appropriate use of trademarks and appropriate structures to minimize risks to the validity of the marks; and preparing employee invention agreements, consulting agreements, and confidentiality and non-disclosure agreements.  Mr. Stevens also counsels in international trade and service matters, including advising Chinese corporations with regard to anti-bribery and corruption control legislation in the US, assisting and counseling clients in intellectual property protection disputes under international trade rules, and advising clients with regard to customs regulations and laws in both the United States and China.


Mr. Stevens has handled many significant international cases, and among others represented Mr. Chun, Doo Hwan, the former President of Korea, in a US civil case brought by a group of people seeking damages amounting to 600 million US dollars.

From 1992-2011, Mr. Stevens was continuously engaged as Foreign Counsel at the Koreana Patent & Law Firm in Seoul, Korea, where his practice focused on intellectual property matters, including management of substantial intellectual property rights litigation in both the United States and in Korea.  Mr. Stevens continues to liaise with Korean counsel to manage intellectual property disputes and administrative actions in Korea including validity and scope actions in the Korean Intellectual Property Office (administrative actions), appeals to the Korean Patent Court (administrative litigation), appeals to the Korean Supreme Court, and infringement actions in the Korean courts.

From 2013, Mr. Stevens joined Inventus IP Group of Seoul, Korea as a partner, where he continues his practice related to Korea.
